About Fine Print Nutrition
Fine Print Nutrition checks whether supplements hold what their labels claim. We gather every public lab test we can find, check each number against its source, and show you the results in one place.
What we do, and what we don't
- We compile published lab tests. We find independent tests of a supplement, read the original reports where they're public, and put the results side by side.
- We do the math. We compare what labs found with what labels claim, and work out what a real dose costs at today's prices.
- We don't run our own lab tests yet. Every page says which results came from whom.
- We don't give medical advice. Talk to your doctor before starting a supplement.
Who runs it
Erin Rose
Founder and editor
Erin founded Fine Print Nutrition and also founded CareCost, a healthcare pricing data company. Her work is checking claims against primary sources: lab reports, labels and official listings. She is not a doctor or dietitian, so our pages report what tests and labels show, with a source for every number.
Erin edits every page and signs off on every pick. Articles are bylined "Fine Print Nutrition editors."
How we make money
We earn a commission when you buy through our Amazon links. As an Amazon Associate, Fine Print Nutrition earns from qualifying purchases. That's our only income. We don't sell supplements, ads, sponsored posts or rankings.
Rules that keep our picks independent
- Brands can't pay to be included, ranked or picked.
- We pick by a rule written on the page before the pick, not by commission. If the rule picks a product that earns us less, we still pick it.
- We don't accept free products in exchange for coverage.
- Tests paid for by a brand are shown, marked, and left out of our counts.
- We list every product we found a test for, including the ones that fail.
